Axarquia Animal Rescue – Our Shop in Torre Del Mar
Our Shop is at 147 Avenida de Andalucia, Torre Del Mar, the main road through the town, located on the slip road between the Fruit Shop and Kebab Shop and very close to the Thursday Market.
We opened in June 2014, and have gone from strength to strength. We are pleased to say the shop is extremely busy, and is now our main source of income. Without the shop, our volunteers, and your donations, we wouldn't be able to help the amount of animals that we do.

We sell a wide variety of second hand/donated items, including clothing, jewellery, baby accessories, books, pictures, bric-a-brac, etc. - all donations gratefully received.
We also have an "Online Shop" on Facebook. Click on the link, or go to Facebook and search for "AAR Online Charity Shop". We welcome anyone to sell their unwanted, pre-loved items on this site, but would be grateful for a small donation for any items sold on there.
If you have a few hours to spare, and would like to volunteer in our shop one morning a week, please contact Liz.

Annick - "I have been working as a volunteer in the shop for over 5 years now and I thoroughly enjoy it. I have met many people making good friends along the way. I am also enjoying interacting with customers and other volunteers from different nationalities. We are all linked together by our love of animals and it is a great feeling to know that every penny made is helping improve the life of stray cats and dogs. I hope to be able to help for many more years."
Steve - "I moved full time to Spain in 2024 and felt I wanted to spend some of my spare time to benefit a charity. I chose AAR and started volunteering in the shop on a Tuesday and have loved every minute. We have a great team of different nationalities and have become very good friends and it’s definately helped my Spanish. If you have any spare time and would like to make a difference to these animals come and join a great team."
Debbie - "I have been volunteering in the AAR shop for many years and I love it. It actually gives my week structure (easy to forget what day it is 😂). If you love animals and would like to help free them from neglect and cruelty then join us. If you want to meet new friends with a common interest then join us. If you want to practice your language skills with the other volunteers and the customers then join us. We are a friendly bunch and I promise you it's a very rewarding pastime."
Mary - "Volunteering to help others is one of life’s joys, and volunteering in the AAR Charity Shop is an important part of my life as a retiree in Spain. Giving back to my community is essential to my wellbeing, and helping to raise money to rescue helpless, homeless animals is so rewarding. In doing so, I receive many gifts in return: friendship, knowing I am making a difference, and the occasion to save the planet through recycling items that are kindly donated.
